Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of health care that addresses the root cause of illness and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. It supports the body’s own healing ability using an integrated approach to disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention that includes: clinical nutrition, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, botanical medicine and homeopathic medicine. In increasing numbers, patients are looking to ND’s for answers to chronic medical problems, strategies for improved wellness or relief from acute medical symptoms. As Dr. James works long term with patients to alleviate the causes of disease, she has observed that a healthy glow in the skin is one of the first signs that the body is beginning to heal.

The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program is a full time 4 year post-graduate professional program that incorporates more than 1,500 hours of clinical experience and upwards of 4,500 hours of classroom training in basic medical sciences, clinical sciences and naturopathic therapies. Upon graduation, prospective ND’s must successfully complete North American Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations as well as specific Ontario Board Exams. Dr. James is a member of both the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and is registered in Ontario with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapies – Naturopathy (BDDT-N).

Please note that naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP, but is covered in part or in full by most comprehensive insurance programs.
