Spider veins of the legs occurs in 30-40% of women in North America. The variation in size, flow, depth and type precludes the possibility of a single effective treatment modality. At the Bay Dermatology Centre we recommend Sclerotherapy first which usually removes the feeder blood vessels. The injected scleroscant proceeds from the largest to the smallest vessels, with 80-90% of the vessels responding to Sclerotherapy treatment. Laser and Intense Pulsed Light can then be used to remove only the vessels that remain after Sclerotherapy. Lasers and Intense Pulsed light can be considered prior to Sclerotherapy in patients who are fearful of needles, who do not tolerate Sclerotherapy or who fail to respond to Sclerotherapy.

Bay Dermatology Centre offers a full range of cosmetic procedures. Referral from another doctor is not necessary to see a dermatologist at the centre for more information on one of our services. Patients can also request to meet with our laser technician who runs the laser area of the clinic to discuss any of the various cosmetic procedures offered at the Bay Dermatolgoy Centre.
